Tuolumne Bouldering

I have had the privilege of climbing in Tuolumne Meadows on three separate occasions during various trips to the States over the past 10 years and in my opinion I have climbed in few finer places across the world. The countryside is spectacular, the routes are staggering, crowds are non-existent and the temperature in summer is perfect in this Alpine pasture high in the sky between 2500 and 3000 metres.

Although I have never bouldered there, I can just imagine the overall soul satisfaction of cranking problems in this sublime setting of picturesque granite peaks and domes stretching up from pastures green into the azure blueness above.

SUPERTOPO’S Tuolumne Bouldering takes you to 20 of the best bouldering areas scattered across this rock wonderland and, as usual, is brilliantly set out for ease of use, describing each area in detail with colour pics of all boulders depicting the problems. The book also includes writings by Tuolumne greats such as John Bachar and Ron Kauk and is packed with classic photos featuring many of the legends in climbing. So the next time the boiling thunderheads are threatening the high peaks, whip out yourcopy of Tuolumne Bouldering and go cranking.
